ili holmes 112818On December 3, 1818, Illinois became the nation’s 21st state. The Grand Army of the Republic Memorial is a beautiful limestone building in downtown Aurora, founded for Civil War veterans 152 years ago.

Senator Linda Holmes met with the museum’s curator to talk about the veterans and widows who raised funds to build the hall and provide support to their community, and to view historic artifacts from GAR history.
